Getting Libre Code Out There
When it comes to getting this in front of people, I will say that self-documenting it on File Formats Wiki was definitely impactful. It worked, especially given that some file format sites DID copy it, including WikiData (subsidiary of Wikipedia). So I guess I’m notable now. Also, people don’t hate my OS-tans and fursonas of the program. Oh, and http://b3k.sourceforge.io is a VERY clean URL. Also, the code is libre and co-authors approve.
What didn’t work: Nobody else has written a port of the program despite my best efforts (they also haven’t ported Nanoscopic too…)
WikiData and TrID (as well as other sites besides my File Formats Wiki Page) have the Magic Number (and file) in UTF-8 rather than the UTF-16BE it is supposed to be.
Some file format sites say they don’t know what .B3K files contain, even though I’ve e-mailed them telling them what they contain.
